For our latest dip into the archives we feature three municipal operations. First up is Leicester where the City’s transport department favoured the Dominator product from Dennis. We feature two examples 231 (UFP231S) has, in our opinion, the more pleasing style of bodywork from Cambridge-based Marshall whilst the East Lancs bodywork on 251 (MUT251W) has a more angular appearance albeit with the East Lancs trademark ‘peaked’ front dome. We then head the short distance north and reach Burton on Trent where we find 1 (221BTP), a Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 with MCW bodywork, which was new to the municipal operation in Portsmouth. It carries the East Staffordshire District Council fleet name which was introduced in 1974. Finally we travel to the South Coast where we find another Leyland Atlantean. 48 (CUF148L) in the Brighton Corporation fleet has a Willowbrook body top dual door configuration.
